the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
fifteen, and in the fortieth Year of the Independence
of the United States of .America.

An ACT to raise.Supplies for the Year one thou-
sand eight hundred and ]fteen, and for other
purposes therein mentioned.
B E it enacted by the honorable the Senate and
House of Representatives, now met and sit-
ting in general assembly, and by the authority ofthe
Taxtobe same, That a tax for the sums, and in the manner
raised.  herein after mentioned, shall be raised and paid in-
to the public treasury of this state, and for the use
and service thereof.
And be it further enacted by the authority afore-
ascents said, That forty-five cents, ad valorem  on every
advaloresn hundred dollars, be paid in specipaper niedium,
on lnds. or in the notes of the incorporated Banks of the
State of South-Carolina, on all lands granted with-
in this state.
And be it further enacted by the authority afore-
rax an  said, That one dollar per head, shall be levied up-
slaves, ci- on all slaves of all ages and descriptions, and the
Dinds, fa- sum of two dollars per head upon all free negroes,
eultics and mulattoes and mustizoes, except such as shall be
ressi clearly proven to the collectors, to be incapable,
from maims or otherwise, of providing a liveli-
hood, between the ages of fifteen and fifty;. and
forty-five cents ad valorem, on every hundred dol-
lars of the value of all lots and lands and buildings,
within any city, town, village or borough, and one
dollar per hundred dollars, on all stock in trade,
factorage, employments, faculties and professions,
