and serving as jurors in any of the courts of this
state; any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

BE it enafled by the honorable the Senate and
Hoife of Reprefentalives, now met and fii-
ling in General Afeimbly, and bi the authority of
the fame, That from and immediately after the

concerned or conneacd with any slave or slaves slaves in
a&ual mn.
in a state of aaual insurrefion within this state, surreai-
or who shall, in any manner or to any extent, on, tobe
excite, council, advise, induce, aid, comfort aduto
guilty or
or assist any slave or slaves to raise or attempt treason.
to raise an insurrelion within this state, by ftr-
nishing them with any written or other passport,
with any arms or ammunition, or munition of
war, or knowing of their assembling for any pur-
pose tending to treason or insurredion, shall
afford to them shelter or protelion, or shall
permit his, her or their house or houses to be re-
sorted to by any slave or slaves for any purpose
tending to treason or insurreion as aforesaid,
