fuch citizen, or inhabitant, thall previoufly render to, and depofit with
fome juftice of the quorum, a chedule of the negroes, or flaves, which
he or (he intends to remove; which fchedule fuch perfon, or perfons,
thall caufe to be recorded, previoufly to their 'being carried out of this
Rate, in the office of the clerk of the court of common pleas, of the
diftrift in which fach perfon, or perfons refide, which fuch juftice (hall
caufe to be recorded. And fuch citizen, or inhabitant, or his or her le-
gal reprefentative, upop bringing back into this ftate the negroes, or flaves,
or their iffue, fo removed, thalb immediately go before the faid magiftrate,
or to fome other magiftate, if he be dead, pr out of office,. and produce
the aforefaid fCcedule, or a true and certified tranfcript thereof, and iden-
tify, upon oath, or affirmation, the flaves, fo brought back into this flate,
as being the fame flaves, or their iffue, fo removed as aforefaid.
Similar per-  And whereas, Thomas Bacon, and other citizens of this flate, have
million to T. applied for leave to bring negroes they have in Georgia, into this flate:
Bacon and o  Be it enaCted by the authority aforefaid, That the faid Thomas Bacon,
and any other citizens, now refidents in this flate, who may be difpofed
to remove their negroes from Georgia, into this ftate, be, and they are
hereby permitted to remove into this flate fuch negroes; provided they
furnifh a chedule, and do make oath, that the faid negroes were owned
by them, previous to the palling of this law, and have been in Georgia
four years previous thereto, and that they are not brought here for the
purpofe of being fold.
In the Senate Houfe, the nineteenth day of December, in the year of
our Lord one thoufand feven hundred and ninetyfix, and in the
twenty-fi rf year of the Independence of the United States of
