)THEREAS we, the reprefentatives of the free afid independent      tfe e
V   of South-Ca oliia' in General Affeibly met, have thought it expe-
dient and neceffary. that a tax for the furns, and in manner herein mention-
ed, fhould be affeffed, raif d and paid into the Public Treafury of this State,
for the ufe and fervice .thereof:

every hundred pounds, to be p Adin /pecie, or paper medium. fiall be and is
hereby impofed on all lands granted within this State, and in the rianner
and under the feveral regulatiodis herein after fzt forth, and expireffed, that is
to fay,

All tide twamp, not generally' a(Fe61ed by the falts, or frefhes, of the  rit
quality, fhal be rated. at fix pounds per acre.
Of the fecohd quality, /our pounds per acre.
Of the third quality, twt pounds per acre.
All pine barren lands adjoining fuch fwamps. or contiguous thereto, with
refped to the benefit of water carriage, at ten fJillings per acre.
All prime inland fwamip, cultivated and uncultivated, at an average of
ihre pounds.
Second quality ditto, two 'pounds p, r acre.
Third quality ditto, one pound per .ac e.
Pine barren lands adjoining, or contiguous ther t, it five fzilliigs per acre.
Salt mar fh, or inldnd fwamp, clearly proved to the affeffors to be incapable
of inmmediate cultivation, five jhillings per acre.

High river fivamp, or low grouinds, cultivated and uncultivated, including
fuch as are commonly called lecond low grounds, lying. above the flowing
of ihe.tides, and as high up the countty as Snow-Hill on Savannah-river, the
Fork of Brqad and Salada-riveis, on the Congarees, Graves's Ford on the
Wateree, and the Boundary Line on Pedee.
The firfl quality, at three pounds per acre.
The fecond quality, at two pounds per acre.
The third quality, at one pound per acre.
Except fuch as lie fo low as to be clearly proved to the affeffors to be in-
capable of immediate cultivation, wiiich fhall be affeffed at five jhil.
lings per acre.
