RESOLUTION IN FAVOR OF JOHN POOL, DAVID M. OARTER, SAMUEL
J. P2RSON AND EDWARD HALL.
Resolved, That John Pool, David M. Carter, Samuel J. PRays their ex-
Person and Edward Hall, the commissioners sent by this p
Legislature to Richmond, be allowed their expenses, to be
paid by the Public Treasurer upon their certificate. [Rati-
fled the 6th day of .February, 1865.]
RESOLUTION IN REGARD TO SLAVES AT WORK ON FORTIFICATIONS
AT WILMINGTON.
WHERrAS, Tie Congress of the Confederate States hav- Preamble.
iug passed an act authorizing the impressment of slave labor
for work on fortifications and other purposes, which renders
unnecessary and inoperative a similar law of our Stato;
and whereas, a number of negroes now at work and em-
ployed in and near the town of Wilmington having been
collected, under the law of the State, and by the order of
the Governor, to work for two months, and having been
retained already from four or five without the consent of
the owners. Therefore,
Be it resolved, That the Governor bo, and he is hereby neturnoald
requested to take such stops as he may deem expedient to negroes to
procure tho immediate return of said negroes to their
owners. [latifted the 7th day of february, 1865.]
