SEc. 4. Be itfurther enacted, That this act shall be in
force immediately aftor its ratification. [Ratifled vhe 23d

Chap. 72. AN ACT TO CHANGE THE LINE BIEWEEN JACKSON AND MACON
COUNTIES.
Ohangeof lones SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the
State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the au-
thority of the same, That all that part of Jackson county
between the present line of said county and a line running
as follows, viz: beginning on the present line between
Macon and Jackson counties, on the western end of Black
Rock mountain, thence in a south eastwardly direction
along the crest of said mountain and down the leading
ridge to the confluence of Cane creek and north Chattoo-
ga [Chattanooga] river and thence down said river to the
present line, being a distance of about three miles, be
and the same is hereby coded to and made part of Macon
county.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this act shall be in
force from and after its ratification. [Rated the 21st

Chap. 73.            AN ACT CONCERNINO RUNAWAY SLAVES.
107h cliap.  SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the

thority of the same, That the 8th section of the 107 chap-
ter of the revised code shall be altered so as to read as
follows : in 8th section, line 4th, strike out the word five
and insert the word fifteen, so as to read fifteen dollars;
in line 6th strike out the word ten and insert the word
twenty-five, so ac to read twenty-five dollars.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this act shall apply
only to the counties of Bertie, Hertford and Tyrell.
SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That this act shall be in
force from and after its ratification. [Ratified the 21st
day of September, 1861.
