SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That all laws r vid clauses of laws coming within the meaning and purview of this act, be, and the same are hereby repealed. SEc. 4. Be it further enacted, That this act shalibe in force from and after it ratification. Ratified the 22nd day of December, A. D. 1842.1 CHAP. LXXV. An Act foe the better government and regulation of the Town of Hertford, in Perquimons County. SEc. 1. B)e it enacted by the General .Issembly of the Slute of North Carolina, and it is herebiy enacted by the authority of the same, That Polls shall be opened at the Court House, in the town of Hertford, under the direction of the Sheriff of Perquimons county and two Inspectors appointed by him, on the first Thursdaiy in March next, and annually thereafter on the same day, under the inspection and control of such persons as may be designated tnder the subsequent provisions of this act, for the purpose of choosing three persons, to act as a Board of Commissioners in and for said town, for the term of one year and after, until others, duly chosen and qualified, have entered upon the duties of their office: Pr-ovided however, that no one shall be eligible as Commissioner, who has not resided during the six months prcce(ling, within the limits of said town, and is not an actual resident at the time of such election; and one of the three at least, sha!l be an acting Jumice of the Peace for the county of Per- quinons. 200 .TOWNS.
