at any one time, tnder the direction of the company upon said road,
for the purpose of keeping ihe same in good repair, and shall be ex-
empt from working on any other road in said county: Provided,
that nothing herein contained shall be so construed as to sulbject the
citizens of Cherokee county to the payment of any of the tolls afore-
said.
Snec. 4. And be it fuirithor enactled, That all laws and clauses
of laws, coming within the meaning of this act, are hereby repealed.

CHAP, XXVIII.
An Act to incorporate the town of Weldon, in the County of Tah-
fax, and for the regulation thereof.
Src. 1. Be it cuacted by the General ssembly of the Stite of North
Carolina, andilis herebymacteld by the authority of the same, That the in-
habitants of the town of Weldon. in the county of Halifax, be, and
they are hereby declared a body corporate; that polls shall he open-
ed in the town of Waldon, under the direction of the Sheriff of Iali-
fax county, and two Inspectors appointed by hilm, on the first M\lon-
day in February next, and a nually thereafter on the same day, un-
der the inspection and control of such persons as niy he desigonated
under the subsequent provisions of this aet, for the purpose of choos.

town, for the term of one year and after, until others diuly chosen and
qualified have entered upon the duties of their office: Prnvided,
however, that no one shall be eligible, as Commissioners, who has not
resided during the twelve months preceeling within the limits of s:iid
town, and is an netunal resident at the time of such election.
