CHAPTER CLXII.
An act prescriing the time jurors shall hereafter be paidt for their services in the county or
Iticnuonid.
Be it enacted by the General .4ssenbly ofthe Slate of Aorth.Carolina,
and it is herely enacted by the authority of the same,' 'that from and after
the first Superior Court held for the county of Itichiond after the first day
ol' September, one thousand eight hundred and thirty, and at each Superior
Court thereafter, that it shall be the duty of the county trustee to pay on de-
mnand each and every juror the amount of his ticket for his attendance as a
juror of said Superior Court, on the last day of er.ch and every Superior
Cou, t hield for the county aforesaid; which ticket shall be a good voucher for
.,aid trustee in his annual settlement as trustee of said cqunty.
II. /Ind be it farther enacted, That it shall be the duty of the County Court
of' the aforesaid county to make arrangements for, and see that said act is
carried into effect.
CiAPTER CLXlr.
An act to alter tie unmes of lienjanmin Ifihael Ezell and Robert Marshall Ezell, of Sampsoa
colnty, alnd to legitimliate them.
le it enacted by the General is-sembly of the State of North Carolina, and
it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and after the
passage of this act, Benjamin Michael 'Fzell and Robert Marshall Ezell, il-
!egitinate sons of' Michael Sutton and Polly Ezell, of Sampsoncounty, shall
be known and called by the names of Itenjamin Michael Sutton and Robert
Marshall Suttotn, and by those names may sue and be sued, plead and be imi-
pleaded; and receive and take property by descent and distribution.
II.. Aind be it further enacted, That the said Benjamin Michapl Ezell and
Robert Marshall  zell be, and they are hereby declared legitimate and ca-
pable in law to take and inherit property, as heirs to the aforesaid Michael
Sutton, in as full and ample a manner as if they had been born in lawful
wedlock; any law to the contrary notwithstanding.
CIAPTERt CLXIV.
An act to prevent ie rdling of timber in, orobsructing the channels of Uhark Iiver and Ich.
land Crcek, iln Rtandolpihl COtunty.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and
it is hereby enacted by-the authority o/' the same, That if any person or per-
suns shall fall timber in, or otherwise obstruct the channels (f Uharie Rtiv'r,
in Randolph county, between lotiver's mill and the Montgomery line, or
Richland Creek between its head and where it empties into Deep River,
he, she or they shall forfeit and pay for every ollence the sum of ten dollars,
to be recovered by warrant before any justice of the peace of said county;
one half to the use of the informer, and the other half to the use of the poor
of saitl county: Provided, that nothing herein contained shall beso construed
as to prevent owners of' land from crecting water fences or building mills
thereon; nor shall any person incur the penalty herein prescribed, who shall
fall timber in, or otherwise obstruct the channels of said water courses in
clearing his, her or their lands, provided he, she or they shall remove the
same within ten days.
CHAPTER CLXV.
