to adopt the provisions of this act, shall not afleet
or impair its validity or force in any respect, ex-
cept as to such counties, nor affect or impair the
power conferred upon said board of levee commis-
sioners by section twenty-three to enter Coahoma
county fbi the purposes named therein.
SEC. 26. Be it further enacted, That all acts in
conflict with this act be, and they are hereby re-
pealed, and that this act take effect and be in
force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER IL
AN ACT to establish County Courts.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted byj the Legislature of
the State of lississippi, That a court to be styled
the County Court of           county, shall be
coruNy. and is hereby created and established in each and
every county of this State, with inferior criminal
and civil jurisdiction to the circhit courts of this
State, and shall be held once in every month, at
the court house of the county, at such times as the
judges of said court may from time to time appoint,
and shall continue in session from day to day un-
til the business therein is properly disposed of for
Powers,  the term, and said term may be for six judicial days
if the business therein shall require. The county
court of each county shall have all the powers and
authority, and shall be governed and controlled
by the same laws, rules and practice of the circuit
court of this State, as far as the same can be ap-
plied and extended to the matters and jurisdiction
confided to said county court, except ihat no grand
jury or district attorney shall be necessary, but
may be dispensed with, and all cases in said coun-
ty court may be tried by the court upon the lais
and facts upon information in writing in the name
of the State of Mississippi, made out and certified
by the attorney or clerk of the court, under the
supervision and direction of the court, containing
the substance of the charges, the nature and char-
