respects by the law regulating trustees of sixteenth
sections.
SEc. 2. Be it further enacted, That said trus-
tees so elected, shall have power to receive and
receipt for all funds belonging to that fraction of
said toewnship lying in said county of Rankin,
which is now in the hands of the mayor and alder-
men of the city of Jackson, or any other persons,
and shall appropriate the same to common school
purposes, as now required by law.
SEc. 3. Be it further enacted, That this act shall
take effect and be in force from and after its pas.
sage.

CHAPTER CCLXXXVII.
AN ACT to amend the various acts of incorporation of the
town of Coffeeville, in the County of Yalobusha, and for
other purposes.
Change of SECTION 1. Be it enacted by'the Legi8lature
corporate of the State of M' isippi, That the officers of
name.    the corporation oRlie town of Coffeeville, now
known and designated as the president and select-
men of the town of Coffeeville, shall be hereafter
known and designated as the mayor and aldermen,
and the corporate name of the town of Coffeeville
shall hereafter be  the mavor and aldermen of the
town of Coffeeville, and by that corporate name
they and their successors in office shall be capable
in law of suing and being sued, pleading and be-
ing impleaded, defending and being defended, in
all manner of suits or actions in any court of law
or equity, and do all acts incident to such bodies
politic or corporate, and all acts not in violation
of any law or the constitution of the State of Mis-
sissippi.
Powers of  SEc. 2. Be it further enacted, That the mayor
mayer,&c and aldermen aforesaid, shall have power to pass
any and all laws, regulations and ordinances, that
they may deem proper in relation to the interests
of the town of Coffeeville, and may levy taxes fdr
