AN ACT to reduce into one the several acts incorporating the Town of Okalona in the county of Chickasaw. SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Slate of Mississippi, That the whole of section Of name. twenty-six, and the east half of section tw, nty- seven, in township twelve, range five, east, be, and the same is hereby incorporated by the name of the town of Okalona. SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the inhabi- tants of said town, as above defined, are hereby constituted a corporation and body politic in law and in fact, and shall have perpetual succession, under the name and style of the town of Okalona, and by that name may sue and be sued, implead and be impleaded, in all the courts of law or equity in this State. SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That the officers for the government of said town shall consist of a Of officers. mayor, marshal, six selectmen, an assessor and col- lector of taxes, clerk, and treasurer, the mayor and marshal to be biennially elected, and the selectmen to be elected annually, by the qualified electors of said town, and all other officers to be elected or appointed as the board of. selectmen may direct. Any elector residing in said town, who may be en- titled by law to vote at any genral election held in this State, are hereby declared legal voters in any election in said town; Provided, they shall have resided within the corporate limits of said town four months previous to any election at which they may offer to vote. S'c. 4. Be it f/rthcr enacted, That there shall be an election, by ballot, at the mayor's office, or some Of elec- otnr public place in said town, by the qualified tions. electors thereof, on the first Monday in August, 1860, and biennially thereafter, for the election of mayor and marshal, who shall hold their offices for the term of two years, and until their successors are elected and qualified ; and there shall also be an election held on the first Monday in August, 1860, and annually thereafter, for the election of 225
