Be it further enacted, That this act take effect and be in force from and after its pass- age. Approved, Dec. 14, 1859. CHAPTER C. AN ACT to authorize the corporate authorities of Yazoo City to grant license for the sale of vinous and spiritous liquors. SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the corpo- rate authorities of Yazoo City are hereby author- ized to grant license. to sell vinous and spiritous liquors within the corporate limits of said town, to any free white male resident thereof ; and shall have power to assess and collect the tax therefor, as they may see proper, said tax not to be less than the sum of two hundred dollars, nor more than one thousand, for any one year ; and further, that said corporate authorities shall have power to appropriate the sums arising from such license to the support of schools, public charities, or other- wise when they deem it best. SEc. 2. Be it further enacted, That this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. Approved, Dec. 14, 1859. 1833
