CHAPTER 120.
AN ACT to amend and reduce into one the several acts con-
cerning the town of Hernando, in the county of De Soto.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislatwre of the
State of Mississippi, That the boundary of the town
of Hernando shall be as follows, to-wit: commen- Limits-
cing at the north east corner of lot No. 64, in sec-
tion 18, in township 3, range 7; thence north to the
north-west corner of lot No. 384, in section 13,
township 3, range S; thence south to the south-
west corner of lot No. 359, in section 13, township 3,
and range 8; thence east to the south-east corner
of lot No. 18, in section 18, township 3, range 7;
thence north to the beginning.
SEC. 2. Be it ftirther enacted, That the officers Officers.
of Hernando shall consist in one Mayor, five Al-
dermen, one Recorder, one Treasurer, and one Con-
stable, who shall be elected annually, by the quali-
fied voters of the town, and shall serve until their
successors he duly elected and qualified.
SEc. 3. Be it further enacted, That every free white
male person, having attained the age of twenty- Qualifica-
one years, and having resided in the State twelve of rvo-
months, and in the corporate limits of the town
four months next preceding an election for town
officers, shall be a qualified voter, and eligible to
any town office.
SEC. 4. Be it further enacted, That the election for
town officers shall be annually held in the town of
Hernando, on the first Monday in July, by the Sher-
iff of De Soto county, between the hours of ten
o'clock in the morning and four o'clock in the eve-
ning. If; from any cause, the election should not
be held, or the Board of Mayor and Aldermen
should not be constituted, any three citizens of the
town may call an election at any time, by giving
ten days' previous notice, by advertisement set up
in the town, and such election shall be as valid as
though it had been held on the day regularly ap-
pointed therefor.
SEC. 5. Be it farther enacted, That when the result
of an election shall be ascertained, the Sheriff or
returning officer shall give to the person receiving
the majority of votes for Mayor a certificate of
