SEc. 2. Be it further enactle That the Board
of Police of said county, shall be, and they are
hereby authorised to allow said sheriff three per
centum upon the full amount of the assessment of
the county taxes of said county, for making said
county assessment; and five per centum thereon for
collecting the taxes of said county, payable out of the
county treasury of said county; and also five per
centum for collecting the levee tax of said county,
payable out of the levee fund of said county.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this act
shall take effect and be in force from and after its
passage.
Approved February 16, 1850.
CHAPTER 288.
AN ACT for the relief of the Natchei Orphans' Asylum.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of
the State of Mississippi, That hereafter, the proceeds
of all licenses granted in the City of Natchez, and
county of Adams, for the keeping of billiard tables,
in said city or county, and also all fines imposed in
the Circuit Court of Adams county, either for con-
tempts, or any other cause, or offence, shall be paid
over, as the same shall accrue, to the treasurer of the
Orphans' Asylum, in said city of Natchez.
SEc. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act
shall be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 289.
AN ACT for the relief of the heirs of Richard Ross, deceased.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the
State of Mississippi, That the administrators, with
the will annexed, of the estate of Richard Ross, dec'd,
late of Attala county, be, and are hereby authorised,
with the consent of the creditors, to surrender lands,
in lieu of negroes and other personal proporty, in
satisfaction of any judgments which existed against,
said deceased in his lifetime, or which has or may
