AN ACT to repeal an act to prohibit the introduction of slaves into this State as merchandize, or for sale, approved May 13, 1837. SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of lississippi, That an act entitled an act to prohibit the introduction of slaves into this State as merchandize or for sale, approved May 13, 1837, be, and the same is hereby repealed. SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the several Suits to be district attorneys in this State, shall be authorized, dismissed ipon pay- and are hereby required to dismiss all prosecutions ment of costs. which may have been instituted against any individ- ual or individuals, for a violation of the provisions of the above recited act, in the payment, by the de- fendants, of all costs which may have accrued thereon. SEG 3. And be it further enacted, That this act shall be in force and take effect from and after its passage. Approved Feb. 23, 1846. 234
