Be it enacted by the Senate and fInuse of Representatives of the sft'ae If 1lF issippi, in General Jssembly conrened, That the town Townofof Liberty shall be, awl the same is hereby in- LIberty Corporated, aild te inlbittn's Of said to V , el- rat'. itled to vote. under the restrictinis prescribed ly the constitution of the state, shall on the first Monday of May next, and on the said first 11oni- day of the s:ime month, in each and every suc- ceedinmg year, assemble at the court house of said when county, between the hours of ten o'clock in the select men* tobeelec-morning, and two ofthe afternoon of said day; and fed. then and there elect live selectivmn, freeholders of said town, a mnajority of whom shall constitute a quorum to transact business. Sec. 2. .And be it further enacted, That on fhe following or soie subsequent (I y after the election of the selctmnen as aforesaid, it shall he their duty to assemble at the court house in the aforesaid town of Liberly, and elect from their ToelectonVO body a president, whose duty it shall ba to Antresi. preside and keep order at the meetings of said se- lectmen, and in case of his absence, any member thereof may be called to the chair, and exercise the functions of president. Sec. '. And he it futther enacted, That the Powvespresident and selectmen of said town, shall he Sentpiliable in law to sue and te ned, plead and be selectmen.impleaded, defend and he defended in all manner of suits or actions in law or equity; and also to do all acts, which are incident to bodies corporate and politic.
