for certain causes and considerations stated in his pe-
tition, and which appears reasonable-Therefore,
S zc. . Be it enacted by the Senate and Hoitse #f Re-
piesentatives, of the state of Mississippi, in general as-
senblj convened, That the mulatto child named Elea- Eleanor
fior, slave of Wilson B.oHarper, be, and sheis hereby eianci.
emancipated and set free from slavery, saving however, pated.
the rights of creditors, and on conditiot' that the said
Wilson B. Harper, enter into bond with security in the Bond.
penal sum of one thousand dollars, to be approved by
the county court of Adams county, to be filed in the of-
fice of the secretary of state, and made payable to the
governor-for the time being, and his successors in olfice,
conditioned, that the said child Eleanor, shall not be.
come a public charge, and that the said Wilson B.
Harper, shall educate and maintain said child, accord-
ing to the provision of the second section of this act.
SEc. 2. And be it further enacted, hat it shall be
the duty of the said Wilson B. Harper, to educate and To be c
maintain the said girl Eleanor, until she arrives to the dacated
age of eighteen years, or until she marry, which ever
may first happen.
