Be it enacted by the Legisidtive council and Hiouse o' Representatiz's o' the AiAsippi Territory in General Assenbly convened, That it shall be the duty of all the Census to inhabitants of this territory, being heads of to !,c ta- 1 - S - inilies, or persons not belonging to any par- in hmt ticular family, to render a true and faithful manner. estimate to the assessors of taxes in their re- spective counties, such -estimate fror hwlds of white families to he on oath, and contain an enumeration of the whole number of in. habitants belonging to his or her family, making a correct distinction between the number of white males over twenty-one years of age ; white males under twenty.one years of age; white females over twenty, one years ; white females nnder twenty -one years the total of free people of colour. Indians not taxcd exceted and the total of slaves. - Sec. 2.
