months, nor for a longer time than two years, the length of time in each
case to be graduated by the character of the examination the applicant sus-
tains.
§ 93. A record of certificates granted shall be kept by the county
superintendent, said record to show the number of certificates granted, the
date, grade and length of time for which each certificate was given, and
the name, age, sex and nativity of the person receiving the same.
§ 94. The county superintendent of each county may, for his own con-
venience, fix certain days on which only he will hold examinations, of which
he shall give due notice by publication in a newspaper or otherwise; and if
a teachers' institute be organized in such county, shall, if possible, make
the time and place for holding such examination correspond with the meet-
ings of the institute.
§ 95. Every person who shall wilfully injure or destroy any building
used as a school house, or for other educational purposes, or any furniture,
fixture or apparatus thereto belonging, or who shall deface, mar or disfigure
any such building, furniture or fixture, by writing, painting, cutting or past-
ing thereon any likeness, figures, words or device, without the consent of the
teacher or other person having control of such house, furniture or fixtures,
shall be fined in a sum double the value of any such building, furniture,
fixture or apparatus so destroyed, and shall be fined in a sum not less than
ten nor more than fifty dollars-for each offense, for writing, painting, cut-
ting or pasting in any such building, furniture or fixtures, any such words,
figures, likeness or device, to be recovered by civil proceeding in any court
of competent jurisdiction, and the punishment provided in this section is in
addition to and not in lieu of the punishment provided by the statutes, reg-
ulating crimes and punishment for such offenses.
§ 96. All acts or parts of acts which are contrary in their provisions to
the provisions of this act are hereby repealed.
§ 97. This act to take effect and be in force from and after its pas-
sage.
