CONOURRENT RESOLUTION to provide for the appointment of a commissioner on the part of the State of Missouri, to act with like commissioners to be appointed by the United States and the State of Illinois, in selecting a suitable location for a bridge across the Mississippi river. WHEREAS, A resolution has been introduced into the General Assem- bly of the State of Illinois to provide for the appointment of a commis- sioner to select a suitable location for a bridge across the Mississippi river between the mouth of the Ohio and Missouri; and whereas, it is pro- posed that the Congress of the United States shall make provision for a survey to accomplish the same object; and whereas, all efforts to establish a great national highway across the Mississippi river meet with the approval of this General Assembly; therefore, Be it resolved by the Senate, the House concurring: That the Governor is authorized to appoint a commissioner, whose duty it shall be, in conjunction with two commissioners, the one to be appointed on the part of the United States and the other on the part of Illinois, to select a proper and suitable location for a bridge across the Mississippi river at some point between the mouth of the Missouri river and the mouth of the Ohio river, whenever the State of Illinois and the Congress of the United States shall appoint like commissioners. The compensation to be allowed such commissioners shall be the same as may be fixed by the Uni- ted States for its commissioner. Approved February 20, 1865. COMMITTEES: AsyLums.
