AN ACT to prevent Huckstering in Macon county.
§ 1. Slave not allowed to sell refreshments,  2 2. Penalty for violating preceding section..
&c., at public gatherings, unless un-
der immediate direction or control
of master.
Be it enacted by the General dssembly of the State of Missouri, as
follows:
§ 1. That no master, owner, or overseer, or other person having a slave
under his or her control shall suffer or permit such slave to sell at public
gatherings refreshments of any kind, or any kind of huckstering whatever,
in Macon county, unless such slave shall be so engaged under the immediate
control and direction, and on account of his master, owner, overseer or other
person having the control of such-slave,
§ 2. Any person violating the provisions of this act shall be fined not
less than five dollars nor more than twenty dollars, to be recovered by indict-
ment, or such person may be arrested by any Sheriff, Constable or Justice of
the Peace, and shall be taken before any Justice of the Peace of the county,
such fine to be paid into the County Treasury, for the use and benefit of the
County School Fund.
This act to be in force from and after its passage.

MARIES.
AN ACT to regulate the assessment and collection of the revenue in the county of Maries.

j 1. Assessor to give notice of time and
place for citizens to meet him, and
give in lists of taxable property.
2. How said notice to be given.
3. Citizens to meet in accordance with
notice.
4. Upon failure to deliver list as above
required, may be delivered at any
other place in ten days.
5. Duty of Assessor in reference to such
as may fail to furnish lists.
6. Collector to give notice of time and
place to meet him and pay taxes.  ,

7. Duty of people to. meet collector ac-
cording to such notice.
8. Duty of Collector where persons do not
meet and pay taxes; forfeiture to
be  collected from  such   by the
Sheriff.
9. Penalty on Sheriff, or Assessor, for
failing to attend in accordance with
notice.
10. Sheriff and Assessor to be governed by
general law, in cases not provided
for in this act; as to compensation
of Sheriff and Collector for services
under this act.

Be it enacted by the General Assemnbly of the. State of Missouri, as
follows:
§ 1. That it shall be the duty of the Assessor. of Maries county in
assessing all property therein required to be assessed by law, to give twenty
days' notice of the time and place at which he will meet the taxable inhabi-
tants of said county, and assess their property.
