Be it enacted by the General .Assembly of the State of Missouri, as
follows :
§ 1. That Morton J. Hines, guardian of the estate of Samuel W. and
Laura C. Houston, be and he is hereby authorized to sell on such terms as
he may deem most conducive to the interest of his said ward, all or a part
of the negroes belonging to the said Samuel W. and Laura C. Houston, and
to loan out the money arising from the sale of said negroes.
§ 2. That the said Morton J. Hines shall, before entering upon the du-
ties herein prescribed, give bond with security, to be approved by the Coun-
ty Court of Cape Girardeau county, to the State of Misaouri, for the use of
said wards, in double the value of said negro or negroes to be sold, condi-
tioned for the faithful discharge of his duties according to law.
§ 3. Said slaves, before sale, to be appraised by three disinterested per-
sons of the county, which appraisement shall be reported, together with the
proceedings of said guardian in regard to said sale, to the County Court of
said county ; which proceedings may be approved or rejected by said court.
This act to take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

§ 1. That Sarah B. Brinker, of the county of Johnson, in the State of
Missouri, and curator of the estate of John D. Brinker, Mather G. Brinker,
Abraham Brinker, Robert Brinker, William Brinker, Fanny Brinker, and
Jesse B. Brinker, minor heirs of John B. Brinker, deceased, be and she is
hereby authorized to sell at public or private sale, either for cash, or upon
credit, all the right, title, and interest which they, the said minors, have in
and to a negro man slave named Sam: Provided, Said curator shall first
obtain the written consent of Eliza Poston, an adult heir and distributee of
the said John B. Brinker, deceased, and her husband, William Poston, to
said sale.
§ 2. That upon such sale, under the provisions of this act, the said cu-
