Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows: § 1. That Charles K. Powell, guardian of the person and estates of William Il. Campbell, Abraham C. Campbell, Vincent P. Campbell, Mary C. Campbell, and George W. Campbell, being all the children and heirs of George W. Campbell, deceased, be, and he is hereby, authorized to file in the County Court of Clinton county his petition for the sale of the slaves belonging to his said wards, to wit : a negro man-slave, named Stephen, and a negro woman-slave, named Emily. . S. On the filing of such petition, the said county may, if in their opinion such sale would be beneficial to the said wards, order the same, and prescribe the terms and maniner thereof. § 3. On the making of an order for the sale of said slaves by the said County Court, the said guardian shall proceed, in strict conformity to such order, to sell said slaves ; and shall make due report of his proceedings under such order to said County Court, as soon thereafter as practicable, for the approval or rejection of said court. § 4. If the said court approve such sale, the same shall be absoluto and binding on all the parties forever ; lint if the said court shall not approve such sale, the same shall be void and of no effect. § 5. If it be necessary, the said court may renew tho order for the sale of said slaves ; but no sale made by virtue of any order of said court, shall be valid to pass the property in said slaves until such sale shall have been confirmed by said court. § 6. Whenever the purchase money arising from such sale shall have been paid to said guardian, the said court shall set apart and assign to Mary Ann Campbell, widow of the said George W. Cainpbell, deceased, such part thereof absolutely as may be equal to the present worth of her interest in said slaves. This act to take effect from and after its passage. Approved February 7, 1859.
