§ 5. The County Court of said county shall, from year to year, fix the
rate of ferryago to be charged at said ferry; and shall require the said John
Bird to execute his bond in such sum as the County Court may direct, with
good and sufficient securities, for the faithful performance of his duties
under this act; said bond to be approved by the court and filed in the office
of the Clerk of the County Court, and may be sued on by any person ag-
grieved, injured, or unnecessarily detained by said ferry; and a copy of the
same, under the seal of the court, attested by the clork thereof, shall be
suflicient evidence upon a trial had for damages aforesaid.
§ 6. It shall be the duty of the said John Bird to koop a list of the
rates to be charged at said ferry, as regulated by the County Court, posted
up at some public place on said boat or boats or ferry-house, at all times;
and upon a failure to do so, he shall forfeit his rights to collect ferryago.
This act to take efect from its passage.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as
follos :
§1. The inhabitants of California, in Moniteau county, included within
the limits hereinafter described, are hereby declared and constituted a body
corporate and politic, by the name and style of * The City of California,
.and by that name shall have perpetual succession and a common seal, which
.they may change and alter at pleasure.
( 2. The boundary of the corporate limits of the city of California shall
be as follows, to wit: the original town limits of Califorma, with the addi-
tions of Smith and Howard, and A. S. Blyler, which additions have been
platted and filed in the Recorder's Office of Monitonu county.
§ 3. That the City Council of the city of California, shall have power to
extend the corporatv limits of the city over any addition to said city not
included in the present limits, whenever a majority of the inhabitants of said
addition shall petition to the City Council for that purpose;    pvided,
Iowever, that it shall be first submitted to a majority of the citizens of the
city; and if the majority be in favor of receiving said addition, then the
same shall become annexed to the city, form a part of the corporate limits
