SWAMP LANDS.
AN ACT to authorize the, County Court of the county of Schuyler to sell certain Swamp
Lands.
1 1. County Court authorized to sell certain portions of said lands in less quantity than
forty acres.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, a8f0l10w8:
§ 1. - The County Court of Schuyler county is hereby authorized to
sell, so soon as the fact can be ascertained by actual survey, the swamp
lands in said county aforesaid, lying on the Chariton river, in less quanti-
ties than forty acres; Provided, a portion of each forty acre tract of land,
out of which the said sale is to be made, lies across the Chariton river, on
the west side thereof; and the Governor is hereby authorized to issue, or
cause to be issued, patents to the purchaser or purchasers of said lands,
upon the same terms as is now required by law to be issued to the purchas-
ers of forty acre tracts.
This act to take effect from and after its passage.

INOORPORATIONS.
AN ACT to incorporate the town of Lancaster, in Schuyler county.

* 1. The corporate limits of the town; gen-
eral powers.
2. Corporate powers; how vested.
3. Mayor of town, how chosen; his age,
etc.
4. Council shall hold office one year.
5. Mayor and Council shall constitute a
Town Council.
6. Council shall appoint a clerk.
7. Council shall fix a place for stated
meetings.
8. Style of the laws of said corporation.
9. Majority of Council shall be a quorum
for business.
10. The Council shall have power to levy
and collect taxes.
11. General powers of Council.
12. Council may punish for disturbing the
peace.
18. May appoint an overseer of the streets.
14. Shall have power over sidewalks, etc.
15. Shall have power to regulate the col-
lector of taxes.
16. Shall have power to appoint a Trea-
surer and Attorney, and other offi-
cers.
17. The Mayor shall be conservator of the
. peace, within the limits of the town.
18. Vacancy in the office of Mayor; how
filled.

19. Mayor shall have the powers of a Jus-
tice of the Peace within the limits
of the town.
20. A Justice of the Peace may discharge
the duties prescribed to the Mayor
in preceding section; in case of ina-
bility, vacancy, etc.
21. A constable shall be chosen; who shall
be ex-oflicio collector; his other du-
ties.
22. An assessor shall be chosen by the
Council.
23. Vacancies to be filled by special elec-
tion.
24. General elections for town officers shall
be on second Monday in April.
25. Regulations respecting elections.
26. Officers shall take an oath to faithfully
demean themselves in office.
27. Who shall be jurors.
28. Real estate, if sold, may be redeemed.
29. Council shall have power to receive ad-
ditions to said town, and extend laws
over the same.
80. This act a public act, and may be read
in evidence.
31. Mayor may issue warrants to bring of-
fenders before him.
