MONUMENTS.
AN ACT to provide for the erection of Monuments over the remains of the late Richard B.
Jackson and Micajah V. Harrison.

WHEREAS, Richard B. Jackson, late of Callaway county, was for twenty-
five years Door-keeper of the House of Representatives, and, in that
position, caused for himself a deserved reputation as an honest and
faithful officer; therefore, as a suitable testimony to his memory, -
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
§ 1. -  That the sum of two hundred dollars be, and the same is hereby,
appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated,
to erect,a suitable monument over the remains of said Richard B. Jackson.
§ 2.- That William Jackson, of Callaway, be, and he is hereby, ap-
pointed a Commissioner to cause said monument to be erected; and that
the Auditor of Public Accounts is hereby required to draw his warrant
upon the Treasurer, in favor of the person who shall erect said monu-
ment, on the certificate of said William Jackson, for the cost thereof;
Provided, The same is completed, and the cost thereof shall not exceed
the amount hereby appropriated.
§ 3.- That two hundred dollars be also appropriated to erect a mon-
ument to the memory of Micajah V. Harrison, late of Callaway county,
-and that James S. Henderson, of said county, be appointed as Commis-
sioner to cause the said monument to be erected; and that the Auditor of
Public Accounts draw his warrant on the Treasurer of the State, in favor
of said Henderson, for the purposes aforesaid.
This act to take effect from and after its passage.

NEGROES - FREE.
AN ACT concerning Free Negroes and Mulattoes.
( 1. Penalty of Free Negro or Mulatto who shall go out of the State; not applicable to
such as serve on Steamboats.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, asfollows:
§ 1. - Hereafter, if any free negro or mulatto shall go, either on busi-
ness or pleasure, into any free State or Territory, and return to this State,
he shall, upon conviction, be punished by fine not less than five hundred
dollars, or by imprisonment in the county jail not less than one year, or
