NEGROES.
AN ACT to expedito the removal of free Negroes from the State of Missouri.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of M8souri, as follows:
§ 1.-That the sum of three thousand dollars shall be, and the same
is herchy, appropriated, to be paid annually, for the period of ten years,
out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriatcd, for the pur-
poses and in the manner hereinafter prescribed.
§ 2.-Whenver the President and Sccretary of the Colonization
Society of the State of Missouri shall certify to the Auditor of Publio
Accounts that one or more free negroes of this State desire to go to
Liberia, and have made application to be transported, and that the Society
is willing to take charge of the same, tho Auditor shall d]raw his warrant
upon the Treasury in favor of the President of said Society for such sum
as would be necessary for the transportation of such applieant or appli-
cants, allowing sixty dollars for each.
§ 3.-It shall be the duty of the President and Secreto.'y of the
said Society to certify to the Secretary of State an annual report of the
amount thus drawn and expended, with the number and names of the free
negroes transported therewith.
§ 4. -No more than three thousand dollars per annum shall be paid
out of the treasury for this purpose, and the money thus drawn shall not
be applied to any other purpose.
This act to take effect from and after its passage.

Be it enacted by the GeneralAssembly of the State of Niesouri, as follows:
§ 1.- That a committee, consisting of Henry T. Blow, Robert Camp-
bell and Charles Rannels, on part (if the Senate, and four persons to be
appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, be appointed
a committee to contract with sonic competent artist for the painting of
full-length portraits, in oil, of General George Washington and Thomas
Jefferson, one of which portraits shall be suspended in the Enate tjamber,
