New section.

in discharging the duties of a pilot or engineer on any steam-
boat, or of a conductor or engineer on railroad cars, shall be
intoxicated to such degree as to endanger the safety of such
steamboat or cars, or of any person or passenger therein,
shall, upon conviction, be punished by imprisonment in the
penitentiary, not exceeding three years, or in the county jail,
not exceeding one year, or by fine, not exceeding one thou-

ARTICLE VIII.
OF OFFENCES AGAINST PUBLIC MORALS AND DECENCY, OR THE
PUBLIC POLICE, AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS OFFENCES.
