CHAP. 50.
of slaves, negroes, or free persons of color in this State,
against the citizens of this State, or any part of them, or!
calculated to induce or licourage slaves to escape from their
owners or masters, sutih person mo offending shall be deemed
guilty of felony, and shall, upon conviction, be punished by
imprisonment in the penitentiary, not less than two years for
the first offence, and not less than ten years for a second
offence.
SEC. 12.-Every person committing any of the offences
enumerated in the two last sections may be indicted and
tried in any county in this State, to which any such written
or printed papers, newspapers, pamphlets, circulars, pictures
or devices, may be carried or sent, by himself, or through any
agency or means whatsoever.
SEC. 13. -Every white person who shall be convicted of
any of the offences punishable by the provisions of this ar-
ticle, and sentenced to imprisonment in the penitentiary,
shall thereafter be incompetent to be a juror in any case,
and shall be forever disqualified from voting at any election,
or holding any office of honor, profit or trust, within this
State.
ARTICLE 11.
OF OFFENCES AFFECTING TIRE LIVES AND PERSONS OF
INDIVIDUALS.

1. Murder in the first degree.
2. Murder in the second degree.
3. l'uishnient for murder in the
first and second degrees.
4. Justifiable homicide.
6. Excusable hiomicide.
6. Verdict of not guilty directed,
wlhen.
7. Killing, without design to ef-
feet death, &c., manslaugh-
ter.
8. Assisting another in self-mur-
der, manshughtor.
9. Killing of unborn quick child,
manslaughter.
10. Administering medicine, or
using instrument to destroy
quick child, manslaughter.
11. Killing in the heat of passion,
without a design to effect
death, manslaughter.
12. Killing any person unnecessa-
rily, while resisting attompt
to commit felony, &o., man-
slaughter.

13. Killing in heat of passion, with-
out design, &e., manslaughter.
14. Killing, whilst person is com-
mitting trespass, &c., man-
slaughter.
15. Owner of mischievous animal,
which kills a person whilst
running at large, deemed
guilty of manslaughter.
16. Person navigating boat or ves-
sel declared guilty of man-
slaughter, when.
17. Captain, engineer, &a., of
steamboat deemed guilty of
manslaughter, when.
18. Engineer runing engine when
not in good repair, punish-
ment of.
19. Master, owner or engineer of
steamboat, running such boat
when engine or machinery is
out of repair, punishment.
20. If any person is killed by run-
ning such engine, &o., doom-
ed manslaughter.
