What burial-grounds not subject to levy, dower or partition. Be it enacted by the General A8embly of the State of .M8- souri, a8 follows :- SECTION 1.-That lands appropriated and set apart as burial-grounds, either for public or private use, and so re- corded in the recorder's office of the county where such lands are situated, or any burial ground that may have been used as such for ten years, shall not be subject to sale on execu- tion on any judgment to be hereafter recovered, to taxation, to dower, nor to compulsory partition: Provided, That the lands so appropriated, and set apart as a private burial-ground, shall not exceed in value the sum of fifty dollars, and an area of one acre. Approved November 17, 1855. CHAPTER XXV. CENSUS. AN ACT REGULATING TIlE MODE OF TAKING THE CENSUS, Sheriff to take the census of his county. The particular man- ner in which census to be taken. Insane, deaf and dumb, and blind persons, to be specified, &o. Secretary of State to prepare blank forms for taking the census, &c. Sheriff to commence taking the census on the first of Septem- ber, in every fourth year after 1852, and return an abstract of the same to the Sccretary of State, before the third Monday in November, &c. 5. Sheriff shall ascertain and spe- cify the number of inhabi- tants in each township and corporate town of his county, &c. 6. Original books to be deposited in office of the clerks of the county courts, &c. 7. Compensation to the sheriff for taking the census. 8. Penalty for failing to perform the duties imposed by this act; how recovered. 0. Compensation, when allowed. 10. Penalty for knowingly enume- rating any person not resi- dent of the county. (a) This Is a now law. Private bu- rial grounds not subject to levy, dower or partition.
