Whereas it is represented to this general assembly, that Joseph M.
Bell, of Pike county has on his hands, property real, personal and
mixed as guardian of his children, devised from their grandfather;
and whereas the said Josepl M. Bell is desirous to remove his family
to Californiia, and ;s unable to do sotunless lie can legally dispose of
the property in his hands belonging to his children; therefore,
le it enacted by the general assembly of the State (f Nissourizas follows:
4 1. It shall be lawful for Joseph M. Bell, of the county of Pike,
father and guardian of John P. Bell, George W. Bell, Montgomery L.
Bell, and Lucy Ml. Bell, all iinors residing in said county of Pike, to
sell and dispose of all such property, which lie the said Joseph M. Bell
may have received from their grandfather, John T. Bell, deceased, for
them, and proper conveyance of the sine to make, and to do and per-
form all lawful acts in relation thereto.
This act iall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

AN ACT concerniiig the estate of Jaines M. Tunnell, deceased, late of Wright county.

Whereas, the said James M. Tunnell died intestate vs it is said, leaving
a wife and four children, him survinr; and whereas the said widow
Cynthia A. Tunnell, has since intermarried with one John M. Gor-
matn, who has taken under his charge and care, the minor children
,-f said deceased. for the purpose of raising and educating them, the
heirs of the said James l. Tunnell, deceased; und whereas the said
James M. Tunnell at his death was seized of, and left two negro
woman named Kessiah and Matilda; and whereas it is important that.
the mother and stept-father of the said heirs as aforesaid, of the said
James M. Tunnell, deceased, as aforesaid, require the possession and
control of said negro woman as aforesaid, to aid the raising and edu-
cating of said children; and whereas, by law it would be necessary
for said slaves to be hired out until said children, should become of
age; therefore,
Be it enacted by the general assembly of the State of M'issouri, as follows:
§ 1. That John M. Gorman is hereby authorized to take the pos-
session and charge of the two female slaves named Kessiah and Matilda,
and keep the same free of charge for their services, until the children
,of James M. Tunnell, deceased, shal! of lawful age, with whose mother
the said John M. Gormnan has intermarried; providing that the said
'ohn M. Gorman shall raise and educate the children of said deceased,
free of charge.
§ 2. Before the said John M. Gorman shall take the possession of
the said slaves, and the issue of said slaves, to-wit: Kessiah and Ma-
tilda, in pursuance of this act, he shall enter into a bond payable to
the state of Missouri, of at least one thousand dollars, with good and
sufficient securities, to be approved by the county court or judge of
probate thereof, for said county; conditioned that the said John M. Gor-
man shall take proper care of said slaves and faithfully raise and edn-
