Ie it enacted by the general assembly of the State of Missouri, asfollows: 1. That Jessie H. Mclivaine and Orville E. McIlvaine, guardians of rheodo.e McGready, who is an idiot, are hereby authorized to place their ward in the lunatic asylum during his natural life, or until his res- toration to reason, and the ollicers of suid institution are hereby re- quired to receive said Theodore McGready, to clothe, support, maintain and humanely treat him in all respects, so far as his condition will war- rant, as lunatics are treated in said institutikn. § 2. Tle said guardians on placing the said ward in said institution, are required to pay down in cash, to the treasurer thereof, the sumf of one thousand dollars, which shall be expended by the board of managers in inprayinig the buildings and grounds, or the futnituro of the building, or both as they may deem best. d 3. That said guardians or either of them; are hereby authorized to dispose of' the interests of their ward in the real and personal property belonging to him, as heir of his father and mother, whether said proper- ty lies in this or any other state, they shall dispose of the same at public or pri% ate sale, as they may deem most advantageous; they shall cause the lands and negroes to be appraised by three disinterested househol- ders, who shall take the same oath as required of appraisers, on sale of- land by executors and administrators; said appraisers shall appraise the proper ty shewn to them by the guardian or guardians, and shall grant a certifi.ate of their appraisement, and if said guardians shall sell the lands and and personal property at public sale, they shall give thirty days notice of the time, place and terms of sale of the property to be sold,'and of land where situated; the terms of sale shall be osh or twelve moths credit, as said guardians may deem most advantageous; they shall make a full report of their proceedings to the county court of Washington county, and if the report is approved, the proceedings shall be void, and on payment of the purchase money, said guardian or guardians shall execute and deliver to the purchaser, a deed for the property sad, which shall be effectual, to convey to the purchaser all the right and title of said Theodore McGready in the same. § 4. The county court of Washington county, shall make settlement with the guardian or guardians, and shall allow as for one guardian, the same compeDsation allowed to executors and admiidstrators, on sale of 412
