CHAPTER 169.
SLAVES.
AN ACT explanatory of an act entitled  An act supplementary to an act con-
cerning slaves, approved March 27, 1845.
SEc. 1. Reward for apprehending runaway slave in the county.
Be it enacted by the General dssembly qf the State of Mis-
souri, as follows :
SECTION 1. Nothing in the act of which this is explanatory, Reward for
shall be construed to extend to a slave taken in the county in apnhen nge
which he may run away, or in any adjoining county; but in in the county.
case such slave be taken in the county, the person appre-
hending such runaway shall receive five dolllars reward, and
when appreiended in an adjoining county, ten dollars reward,
if the distance exceed twenty miles from the residence of the
owner, or person in possession of said negro, and five dollars
if under that distance.
This act to take effect from its passage.
