70Pauedgarch AN ACT to continue the State's appropriation
i, 1858.           for the benefit of colonization.
Preamblo.  WHEIMAS, by an act of the General Assembly of
Maryland, passed at December session, eigh-
teen hundred and thirty-one, chapter two hun-
dred and eighty-one, entitled an act relating to
the people of color of this State, it was pro-
vided that the Governor and Council should
appoint a board of managers consitting of
three persons, members of Maryland State Col-
onization Society, and an annual appropriation
was made to be applied by the said board of
managers in removing emancipated slaves and
free people of color to the Colony of Liberia,
or elsewhere out of' the United States, and in
making preparations at said Colony, or else-
where as the said managers might think best,
which would seem to them expedient for the
reception, accomodation and support of the
persons to be removed until they could support
themselves, and which said appropriation ceased
at the end of the year eighteen hundred and
fifty-one; And whereas, by another act of the
