23, 1824.     WIIERrA S, it is represented to this general assembly, that W¥arren
Preamble. L, Burk, of Warren county in the state of Ohio, did by his certain
deed of Manunission hearing date, Queen A nn's county, the twenty
fourth day of October, in the ),ear eighteen hundred and eighteen1
manumit a certain negro man named Jeffery, which said dced was
not recorded within the time limited by law, and it appearing douht-
fil whether under the existing laws it can be effectually recorded-
Therefore,
Directed to  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
re~prd.    clerk of queen Ann's county aforesaid shall record said deed of
Manumission, together with a copy of this law, and the said deed so
recorded, shall have the same effect and validity to all intents and
purposes as if the same had been duly recorded agreceably to the pro-
visions of the twenty ninth scction of the act entitled, an act relating
to negroes, and to repeal the acts of Assembly therein mentioned,
passed at November session, seventeen hundred and ninety six;
Providedahvayqs, that nothing herein contained shall lie so construed
as to effect the rights of any persons having claims against the said
Warren L. Burk, or to prejudice the rights of any purchaser of said
negro under a bona fide sale,

23, 1824.                    An act relating to the Auditor Qenera.
Restriction.  Be it enacted by the General Assemblq oJ Mar*yland, That from
and after the passage of this act, it shall not be lawful fur the Exe-
cutive to appropriate any sum of money as a compensation to any
person for cleaning and making fires in the Auditor's Office.

Passed Fcb. An additional supplement to the act, entitled, An act, for the speedy recovery
23, 1824.     of small debts out of court, and to repeal the acts of Assembly therein Inch-
tioned.
Case of ap-  Be it enacted by the General Asseinbh, of Maryland, That upon
peals, from  all appeals hereafter prosecuted to the several county courts of this
magistates state, from the judgmen, of a justice of the peace, it shall be the
duty of the judges of the several county courts, to give judgment
according to the very right of the cause and the law of the land,
without regarding any omission or defect in the proceedings of the
said justice of the peace, and no judgment so as aforesaid appealed
from shall be reversed or set aside for an), imperfection, omission,
or defect in the proceedings of said justice of peace, in and relating
to the judgment so as aforesaid appealed from.

P'reamble.    IVIIEI EAs, sundry persons, citizens of the state of .Mlarvland, have
formed themselves into a society for the promotion of Agriculture,
and of family domestic manufactures upon the terms and conditions
and under the regulations and provisions set forth in the following
articles of association, viz:
Articlesof  We the subscribers do hereby agree to associate ourselves under
association,  the style and title of the Maryland Agricultural society.
)bject.       ARTICLE. 1. The object of this association is the promotion of
Agricultural and of family domestic Manufactures.
