be taken to pay rent that he dos not owe; yet from the difficultv of
di'crimination and the liability to abuses in other species and descrip-
tions of property, it is deemed proper to only exempt negro slaves and
servyants, and inasmuch as very many widows and orphan' are ex.
1posd to this injustice, who derive their support from the wages of
:Javcs whom they hire out; for remedy thereof.

and after the passage of this act, no negro .lave or servant shall be
liable to be destrained, or shall at any time he destrained.for house
rent, or any other rent unless such slave shall bonafide belong-to such
person or persons, as may be lawfully liable to, or chargeable with
such rent.

CHAPT Ft.-152.
An act to continue in force the Acts of Assembly which would expire with
the present session.
Be it encted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That all
such acts and parts of such acts as would expire with the present
session of assembly, he and the same are hereby continued to the first
day of December next, and to the end of the next session of assenm-
bly which shall happen thereafter.

An act to appoint Conmissiuners to review the ninth and part of the tenth e-
lection districts ill Baltimore county, and establish a pnroper place for holding
the election.
VHEREAS, it is represented to this general assembly by the peti-
tion of sundry inhabitants of B1altinore county, that the place of
holding the election in the ninth election district ii not central and
convenient, and the prayer of the petitioner, appearing reasonable;-
Therefore,
•Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Abraham Cole, Njatlaniel Childs, William Matthews, James Tur-
ner & Thomas Pearce, shall be and they are hereby appointed, and au-
thorisedor a majority of them to review the ninth and the tipper part
of the tenth eh.tiou districts in Baltimore couaty, and make such
alterations or changes in the present location of said districts as may
most conduce to the geneiral convenience of the people, and to ap-
point a place-to hold all fut ire elections at the ninth district as nearly
central as shall be practicable, having regard to population, extent
and the convenience of voters, and the acrommodation of persons
attendant upon such clections; and the said commissioners shall on
or before the fifteenth day of July next, deliver to the clerk of Bal-
timore county court, a description in writing under their hands and
seals specifying plainly any alteraion in the locsAtion of the said diz,,
