therein containcd, shall not affect the right or interest of any person
or persons, in, to or out of the said lands or any part thereof, except
only the heirs and legal representatives of the said Madam Bence
Giimiat, and all persons claiming, or to claim the sane from, by,
through, or under them, or either of them.

Preamijie. VHIERIEAS, It appears to the general assembly of Maryland,
that James NV. Zacharie has bona lide purchased a number of
slaves frlom sundry citizens of this state, in order to trans-
port the same to the state of Louisiana, and that the said
negroes are now on board of the Balloon, lying in the harbor
of Baltimore; and whereas, it appear' that difficulties have
arisen at the custom house in relation to the transportation of
the same, owing to the informality in the bills of sale of the said
slaves; and whereas, the honorahle Nicholas Brice, chief judge of
Baltimore city court, has examined the said negroes, who acknow-
ledge themselves to be slaves; Therefore,
May transport B. IT ENAc,rED By the General A.sembl of Ala,'1land, That
nt-groe5. it shall and may be lawful for the said James V. Zacharic, to trans-
port the said negroes from this state, as if hills of sale therefor
had been executed according to the laws of this state, any law to
the contrary notwithstanding.

Levy court Be IT ENAC'TED By the General Assembly of Mair!/land,
may levy. That the justices of the levy court of Kent county, be, and they
are hereby empowered, at their levy court annually, so long as
they shall see cause, to assess and levy on the assessable property
of said county, such sum of money as they shall think just and
right, for the support and maintenance of the said Susana ilin-
gold, and that the same he collected annually, by the collector of
Kent county, and by him paid to the said Susanna Ringold, or her
order.
