Passed Jan 20 WitimAs, it is represented to this general assembly, by the pe- Preamble. tition of Priscilla Nicholls, of Montgomery county, that at a court or oyer and, terininer and gaOl delivery for Baltimore county, hehl on the second Monday in January eighteen hundred and furteeni, a certain negro by the naine or Ned, then a slave for a term of years to the said Priscilla Nicholls, anti having six years to serve, was presented, indict&d, and foiund guilty of felony, and sentenced to labour ii the penitentiary for the term of seven years; that no valuation has ever been made of said negro Ned, agreeably to the act of assembly in such cases provided; Thereforc, See. 1. Be it cuated by Ili General Assembly of raryland, That Negro to 1e th judges of Baltimore county court, at their next tern, be and valued. they are hereby required to value the said neg-ro Ned, and that the amount be wsesscd and paid to the said Priscilla Nicholls, in the nianner provided by law in similar cases of conviction.
