WHEREAS, The owners of said plantations, mnany of whom         are
preparing to cultivate the same, will not be able to enclose them in
time for that purpose;
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-
tives of the State of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That
cattle not allow- no horses, mules, neat cattle, or other live stock of a nature to injure
lea.r n at  crops of cotton, sugar cane, corn, or other object of agricultural pro-
duction, shall be permitted, east of the Mississippi river, to run at
large within five miles of the fortifications at Port Hudson, distance
to be computed from the nearest point of said fortifications to any
other point within the radius contemplated.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, &c., That persons having live stock
of any or all of the kinds enumerated, within the limits mentioned,
rson to  tshall keep the same within enclosures, under a penalty of ten dollars
in enclosures. for each and every animal found outside the same. Said penalty
nowrecoverable recoverable by writ before any justice of the peace of the ward in
which the party delinquent may reside.
SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, &e., That this act shall be in force
effect and for rom and after its passage, and shall have effect until the close of
what time.  the year one thousand eight hundrd and sixty-seven.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-
tives of the State of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That
any one who shall persuade or entice away, feed, harbor or secrete
any person who leaves his or her employer, with whom she or he
Persons liable has contracted, or is assigned to live, or any apprentice who is bound
for damages and0
subject to Rie. as an apprentice, without the permission of his or her employer,
said person or persons so offending shall be liable for damages to the
employer, and also upon conviction thereof shall be subject to pay a
fine of not more than five hundred dollars, nor less than ten dollars,
or imprisoned in the parish jail for not more than twelve months,
nor less than ten days, or both, at the discretion of the court.
SEc. 2. Be it further enacted, &c., That it shall be the duty of
btuty of Judges, the judges of this State to give this act especially in charge to the
grand juries at each jury term of their respective courts.
