To auithorize Henry J. Heard and Isabella It. Wederstrandt, hiis wife, to adopt Maria Lemon,
an orphan, 1ad to cha linge her name.
Adoption. SEcrion 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives qf the
State 01f Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That Henry J. Hoard
and his wife, Isabella Rt. Woderstrandt, of the parish of East Baton Rouge
be, and they are hereby authorized and empowered to adopt Maria Lnion,
an orphan, and to clangc letr namic to that of Mary Heard.
To be by No- SEc. 2. Be it further enicted, -c., That said adoption shall be cffected
ariat act. by the tcans of ani authentic act, to b executed before the Recorder, or
any Notary Public of' the parish of East Baton Houge.

0n the iopted and effected, that said Maria Louon shall bear the unic of Mary IHeard,
and shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges appertaining to a logiti-
mate child, and shall, for all intents and purposes, be considered as if she
were actually and in [hat the legitimate child of said Henry J. [eard and
Isabella R1. Wederstrandt, his wife; provided, that nothing contained in this
aet shall interfere with the rights of forced heirs, if any there be, and that
this not take effect from and after its passage.
