Relative to pardoned slaves.
Owners,whos  SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of
slaves condemn-

invested with the title and possession of such pardoned slaves on reimburs-

said; and the Auditor of Public Accounts is hereby authorized toreceive
the same in the name and for the use of the State, and deposit such sums
as lie may receive in the State Treasury.
When to take  SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, &c., That this Act take effect from its

Providing for the establishment of a Central State Arsenal, in connection with the Seminary
of Learning at Alexandria.
Acentral State  SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and .otuse of Representatives of
Arsenal u~tablish-y
ed at Alexandria. the Stale of Louisiana, in General Assembly convencd, That there shall be es-
tablished, in connection with the State Seminary of Learning at Alexan-
dria, a Central State Arsenal for the storage, preservation and safe keep-
ing of such portion of the arms, accoutrements and jpunitions of war
belonging to the State, and not in use, as shall be seleged in the manner
hereinafter directed, and that the corps of Cadets of the Seminary shall,
under the Superintendent, form a military guard for the Arsenal.
Who shall be  SEc: 2. Be it further enacted, &c., That the Superintendent of the State
Ordnance Officer
orthe tate-lls Seminary of Learning shall be ex-officio ordnance officer of the State, charged
duties,      under the Governor as Commauder-in-Chief, with the receipt, storage, preser-
vation and issue of all arms, accoutrements and munitions of war which may
be sent to the Central State Arsenal. He shall give receipts in writing to
the Adjutant and Inspector General of the State for all storessent to said
Arsenal, and shall make quarterly returns of all such property to that
officer for the information of the Commander-in-Chief ; issues shall only be
made on written requisitions, approved by the Governor as Commander-
in-Chief.
