X.A. Butler to SEC. 2. Be it further enlaced, 'c., That from and after the pas-
bertename of
rte Adelne sage of this Act the said .Mary Adeline Butler shall bear the name
Pratr.     of Mary Adeline Prater, and shall be entitled to all the rights and
privileges of a legitimate child; provided that nothing herein con-
tained shall interfere with the vested rights of forced heirs.

To equalize the rate of Taxation on Slaves.
SEcTiox 1. Be it enaded by the Senate and Hlouse of Representatires of
Rate of taxa. the State of Louisina in General Assembil ronrened, That all Assessors
tin on slaves. hereafter shall assess all slaves between one and five years of age
at two hundred dollars; all from  live to ten years of age at three
hundred dollars; all between ten and fifteen years of age at four
hundred and fifty dollars; and all females between fifteen and forty.
five years of age at six hundred and fifty dollars; and all males be.
tween fifteen and forty-five years of age at eight hundred and fifty
dollars; and all of both sexes over forty-five years of age at three
hundred dollars.
When thi Act  SEc. 2. Be it further enated, &'c., That this Act shall take effect
