mission therefor.

in force.   from and after its passage, and that all laws inconsistent or contrary
to this act are hereby repealed.

To extend and more clearly define the powers of the Board of Police of the town
of Washington, in the parish of St. Lnndry.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-
tives of the State of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened,

'  y.      cupied, to impose special taxes on lots, slives, merchants, pedlhirs,
hawkers, proprietors of grogshops, billiard tables, taverns, boarding
houses, exhibitions, livery stables, and on all steamboats, flat boats,
keel boats, and other water crafts within the aforesaid limits, as
also to tax all species of pursuits or property not enumerated above,
should they deem it expedient and necessary, provided said taxes be
not inconsistent with the constitution and laws of this State.
Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, &c., That the assessors and col-
