No. 26.                    AN ACT
To exempt the members of the police jury of the parishes of Pinquemines, St. 13er-
nard and that part of the parish of Orleans, right bank of the Mississippi river,
from jury duty.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
Pxemptioufron State of Louisiana, in General Assenbly convened, That the members
jury duty.  of the police jury or the parishes of Plaquemines, St. Bernard, and
that portion of the parish of Orleans, right bank of the Mississippi
river, be exempted from jury duty, during the term for which they are

No. 27.                    AN ACT
To punish white persons for the offence of gambling or betting with free negroes,
inulnties, or claves.
Be it enacted by the Scuate and House of Representatives of the
State of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That any free
resy ndu~ nWhite person who shall play at any game of chance, or iake any bi)t,
acetanid or or in aniy mnanner gamble with any free negro, mulatto or slave,
shall, on conviction thereof, be fined not less than one hundred dollars
nor more than ote thousand dollars, and be imprisoned in the parish
jail for a term not less than one month, nor more than one yehr ; andi
on a second, or any subsequent conviction for a similar offence, shall
be fined one thousand dollars and be imprisoned one year in the par-
