No. 169.]                   AN ACT
To authorize the Treasurer of the State %D reimburse a certain sum of money to the parisk
of St. Martin.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State
of Louisiana in General Assembly convened, That the State Treasurer be,
and he is hereby authorized to pay to the Treasurer of the parish of St.
Martin for the use of said parish, on his own warrant, out 6f any fund in
the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of three hundred dollars
and thirty-nine cents; the same being for the reimbursement of a similar
sum over-paidin the Treasury of the State by Zephirin Broussard, Sheriff
of the aforesaid parish of St. Martin, as the direct tax assessed on the real
estate of said parish, for the year eighteen hundred and forty-three,

For the benefit of Prozell & Scott.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rpresentatives
of the -State of Louisiana in General Assembly convened, That the Register
of the land office of the State be, and is hereby required to examine the
respective claims of Frederick Proxell and Henry Scott, of the parish of
Concordia, to the north-west quarter of section No. twenty.six in township
No. six of range No. seven east, in the land district north of Red river,
being part of the land located for the use of a Seminary in this State, and
said Register shall award the same to such one of the conflicting claim.

SEc. 2. Be it further enacted, &c.; That such one of said claimants
to whom said land shall be awarded, shall have until the first day of Janu.
ary next to pay for the same, at the price of one- dollar and twvepty-five
cents per acre, and on payment for the same the Government shall issue to
him a patent for the land.
Smc. ba. Be it further enacted, &c.; That the Register shall notify said
claimants, by letter, of the time and place, when and where he will receive
their proof and investigate their claims.
