and for every two years thereafter; and in case of death or resignation
of any of said Tobacco Inspectors, during the recess of the Legislature,
the Governor shall make temporary appointments, which shall expire
at the end of the next session thereafter.
Srec. 7. Be itfurther enacted, &c., That the two Inspectors appointed
for the city of Lafayette, shall be subject to the same duties and penalties,

SEC. S. Be it further enacted, &c., That from and after.the first day
of October next, all hogshcads or casks of tobacco, which shall be
offered for sale in the city and port of New Orleans, shall be made of
well seasoned timber.

No. E3.-AN ACT providing for the Adjustment and Liquidation of the Debts rroper of the State
nd for other purposes.
SECTION 1. BeC it enacted by the Senate and  uuSe of Rtrescutatives
of the State of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That the
Treasurer of the State of Louisiana be, and he is hereby authorized to
negociate, sell, transfer and dispose of a sufficient amount of the Stock
ownetd by the State, in the capital stock of the Bank of Louisiana, at not
to sell the auk less than its par value, for the purpose of extinguishing the two serics
Stockowiidby of Bonds, each for six hundred thousand dollars, issued by the State in
tha State in the
Bank of La.  favor of that Bank,in the year eighteen hundred and twenty-four, one
series falling due the first day of July, cighteen hundred and foity-four,
and the other on the first day of July, eighteen hundred and forty-nine,
and to apply the proceeds arising from said sale or transfer, to the pay-
ment or extinguishment of said Bonds, in the order in which they shall
iature, or to noegociato or exchange .iaid stock, or any part thereof, at
par value, for the purpose aforesuid.
SEC.  2. Be itfurther enacted, 4r. That the Treasurer of the State

of Treasurer, of the Sinking Fund now owned by the State in the Bank of Louisiana,
to the payment of a note issued by the State in favor of that institution,
for the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, together with any
accruing interest thereon, and which matured on the twenty-seventh day
of February, one thousand eight hundred and forty-four.
SEc. 3. Be it jhrther enacted, 5-c. That if the Bank of Louisiana shall
become the purchaser or owner of the twelve thousand shares of Stock
IBank of La. at. herein authorized to be sold or exchanged, within six months from the
