No. 53.-RESOLUTION.
Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of
Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That the Superintendent of
the colored convicts now employed on roads, is hereby ordered that as
soon as he has completed the roads now ordered in the Parish of West
Baton Rouge and elsewhere, to repair with that force, and make a road
from Crain's Store, on Bayou Grosse Tate, to Brusl6's Landing, on the
Mississippi River: .Provided,.that the persons interested in said road,
furnish provisions for the fo and pay the guard.
Be it further resolved, .4c. That said convicts be required to work on
the road from Vidalia to Harrisonburg, and complete the same so soon
as the other roads mentioned in the foiegoing resolution are completed,
on the citizens of Concordia ana Catahoula supplying means to defray
the expense of provisions. and supporting said hands and paying the
guards.

No. 64.-RESOLUTION.
Be it resolved by the- Senate and House of Representatives of the State of
Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That our Senators and Repre-
sentatives in Congress, be requested to use their best exertions to have
established in the Parish of Rapides, two companies of troops.

No. 5.-RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, there is great danger of the closing of the Mouth of Red
River, and a great diversity of opinion exists as to the best means to be
pursued to avoid it; and WHEREAS, the navigation of said river is of the
utmost importance, as well to the Government of the#Jnited States as to
this State and Texas in every respect-
Be it therefore resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives
of the State of-Louisiana, in general assembly convened, That our Sena-
tors and Representatives in Congress, be, and they are hereby requested
to call the immediate attention of the General Government to this subject;
that they endeavor to procure a corps of Engineers to proceed forthwith
to the mouth of said river, and make, or cause to be made, an accurate
survey of the same, and report to Congress at its present session, the
result of their investigations; and that they earnestly urge an appropria-
