Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State
of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That the Parish Judges
and ex officio Judges of the Court of Probates, in and for the Parishes of
Lafourche Interior, Livingston, St. Helena, Terrebonne and West Ba-
ton Rouge, be, and they are hereby empowered and authorized to appoint
Clerks fur the said Court of Probates, which Clerks shall have the emolu-
ments, and will be uojder the same. responsibility, as the Clerks of the
District Courts sitting in the said Parishes.

No. 7.-REBOLUTION.
Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State
of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That the Governor of
the State, the Attorney General, and the Secretary of State, be author-
ized to receive all State bonds, for whatever purpose issued, and not
appropriated as intended, and also to receive all the State liabilities
whichhave been redeemed and cancelled, and publicly to destroy the
same, at such time and places as they may deem proper, and cause a
record of such proceedings to be made in the Treasurer's office.

No. 8.-RESOLUTION.
WIEEAS the colored convicts are now at work on a road leading from
Devall's landing to Bayou Grosse TAte; and whereas it will be of great
utility to bave a lateral road from or near Mr. McLinn's plantation, on
the Grosse Tate road, to the Mississippi river, at or near- the plantation
of Mr. Grandprd; and whereas the Police Jury of West Baton Rouge
have appropriated six hundred dollars to be used in paying the guards
and subsisting the convicts while employed on this road-Therefore,
Be -it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives qf the State
of Louisiana in general assembly convened, That the State Engineer is
hereby directed that as soon as the convict force complete the road from
Devall's to Grosse Tote they be put at work on the lateral road leading
from the Grosse Tate road, at or near the plantation of McLinn, tq the
Mississippi river, at or near the plantation of Mr. Grandpr6, by such
route as shall be designated by the Commissioners appointed for that
purpose by the Police Jury of West Baton Rouge-they furnishing
subsistence for the convicts and paying the guard while actually at work
on this road.
