Louisiana, approved Pebruary seventh, anno domini eighteen hundred and twenty-nine, and entitled <Au act relative to roads and levees, plenary and unlimited power has been vested in the police jury of the parish of Concordia to make such enactments vith regard to levees within the limits of said parish as they may deem necessary and proper; Therefore, Section 1. Be it ordained, by the police jury of the Levees to be parish of Concordia, that throughout all the portion of mande by frontlve proprietors. said parish watered by the river Mississippi, levees being necessary to confine the waters of that river to protect all the inhabitants against inundations, the said levees shall be made by the riparian or front proprietors of the lands in the manner, proportions and at the times hereinafter prescribed, except in so far as is otherwise provided by the provisions of an ordinance of the police jury entitled An ordinance to levy a special tax, and for other purposes, ordained November seventeen, eighteen hundred and forty-one ; and the better to Division into accomplish that end, the parish of Concordia is hereby three ieve divided into three levee wards.
